Going Raw - Day 20

Today, my tummy is not happy.  I have been eating raw foods for about 2.5 weeks now, and today is the day my body decided to flush its system out.  When you move to a raw food diet, your body begins to release all of the waste and toxins you have been accumulating and storing in your bowels and fat.  The detox phase of raw eating has been pretty good for me.  I have had some emotional ups and downs that go along with the detox, but all in all, it has been easy.  But today I have a headache and other unsavory physical symptoms that don't need to be described.  On the upside, I have plenty of energy and have been sleeping more soundly than I have slept on a very long time.  I wasn't sure if I would make it this far on a raw food lifestyle.  The old me is very much addicted to white flour and refined sugars. As a long-time vegetarian, I ate a lot of pasta and faux meat products.  It was more about mimicking a carnivorous diet with fake veggie dogs and chicken patties than eating foods that nourished my body.  After listening to my body and the guidance I was getting regarding diet, I set out to learn more about raw foods.  I bought a Vita-Mix blender and dehydrator.  I have many raw "cook"books to learn about making some of my favorite foods from veggies and nuts alone.  To jumpstart my new food plan, I ordered a fabulous raw food box from Rawvolution.  They prepare a variety of raw meals each week, then ship them directly to you.  It has been a great way to introduce my palate to new flavors and textures, as well as giving me incentive to experiment with foods on my own.  Who knew you could make such a lovely pizza from nothing but veggies and seeds? 

In addition to the physical benefits, I have also noticed an increase in my energy.  I can feel the life force energy, or qi, running through my body.  I am more in tune with my senses, as they are not dulled by artificial flavors or colors.  My intuitive gifts are more active, and information is coming through more clearly.  My ability to see and read energy has been heightened, much to my enjoyment and my client's benefit. I look forward to seeing how things unfold for me physically and spiritually as I continue down the raw food path.  So I will keep blogging about my adventure and see where this takes me.  Today though, I think I will take it easy, give my tummy a chance to rest, and find some recipes for some delicious raw meals.  Zucchini "spaghetti," anyone?
